The Liminal Letter: September/October

A season of networking, insights and industry connection as Liminal joined key events across finance, investment, and advocacy with more to come this autumn.

Liminal recaps a busy summer

The past couple of months have been a fantastic mix of events, networking and knowledge-sharing across the industry, with July proving to be a particularly busy month for the team.

We attended the HFC (UK) Help For Children ‘Tipples on the Terrace’ event, kindly hosted by Dechert LLP on their fantastic roof terrace. Over 120 friends of HFC came together to enjoy a sunny evening of drinks and conversation, raising funds to support vital programmes tackling child abuse here in the UK.

The team also joined WE’s Retail and Retirement Event, which provided a great opportunity to engage with colleagues across the industry on the latest challenges and opportunities in this space.

Another highlight of the month was attending BlackRock Cash Management’s Summer Soirée, which offered a lively and social evening for networking with peers and partners in the industry.

We were pleased to attend the second session of WF’s Trading & Investment series with eToro, focused on equity investing. The session explored the importance of stock investing for creating a diverse portfolio, the top-down and bottom-up approaches, and frameworks for selecting the right stocks. The discussion demystified the world of equities, breaking down the jargon and encouraging women to feel more confident, informed and empowered to engage with the markets.

We closed July with the Women in Finance Group’s first-ever summer polo event. A wonderful sunny afternoon overlooking 23 acres of polo grounds. Guests enjoyed champagne, conversation, and of course the Polo itself. While the event also highlighted the importance of sports in the lives of female finance professionals, from health and wellbeing to career development and leadership.

As expected, August was quieter on the events front. Despite that, it was a busy time for the team behind the scenes, allowing us to focus on projects while also taking the opportunity to enjoy some well-earned holidays.

Looking ahead, the calendar is beginning to fill once again. In November we have a fun line up of events, we are particularly looking forward to the Financial Promoter Awards, where we’ll find out if we won the agency of the year award, the Women in Finance Group’s go karting networking event, and the Help For Children’s charity ball.

We hope to see you at some of these events this autumn.
